Sega Mega Drive · 1993
Shining Force II reached the Mega Drive in Japan in October 1993 and the West the year after, built by Sonic! Software Planning — the studio that would become Camelot — and published by Sega. It took everything the first game did and gave it room: a larger world you cross on foot instead of through a menu, thirty-odd recruits, and battles that sprawl far enough that losing the left flank is a thing that can happen to you.
It is also the game this house is named after. Creed's Mansion is a real place in it, and the wizard who lives there is exactly the sort of person who would let you poke around in his things.
All 85 weapons and nine rings read out of the ROM, with the settings the status screen hides. The Critical Sword weakens a Baron, the Gisarme kills one hit in four, the Ninja Katana has a bug, and cursed gear costs a quarter of your turns. Plus the best weapon for every promoted class.

The hooded witch who keeps your saves turns into a young woman after the credits, wearing the two jewels Mitula carried off. Both ROMs decoded, US and Japanese, and every clue for and against the two being the same person.

The dwarf smith rolls four times, not once, down a ladder picked by the recipient's class. Here is the routine, both ROM tables, the exact odds counted over every possible seed, and a method that gets you the rarest weapon every time.
